Portland Bible College is situated in Portland, Oregon, in the picturesque Pacific Northwest. As an educational ministry of Mannahouse Church (formerly City Bible Church), students benefit from exceptional biblical teaching, engaging worship, personal growth, and Christian service opportunities.
In the fall of 1967, twelve young adults stood in Pastor Dick Iverson’s office, asking that he train them in their own church. Thus, Portland Bible College began with a handful of students and grew today into a Bible College with a thriving campus and online community with thousands of graduates from all over the world.
One of the great tributes to the vision is the way the school has touched the nations. Since it’s beginning, the heart of PBC has been to train leaders for the nations. Scores of international students have studied and graduated from PBC. The background and cultural diversity, alone, is one of the unique educational features of the college.
Recognizing that not all students and leaders can travel to Portland for Bible and Ministry training, PBC has always had some sort of distance learning program. This started with Church Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) where tape cassettes of lectures were mailed to students.
In Spring 2010, the online program was started with a pilot group of 48 students in two courses and since then the number of students has outgrown the campus population and includes a full Bachelors Program online. Online programs were also add in Spanish and Portuguese so language would no longer be a barrier to training.
The need for future world leaders remains the hope of the church and the world. We are determined to honor our heritage and accept our responsibility to the future.
